バンダイビジュアルは08年2月から「ガンダム」シリーズのBDでの販売をはじめた。同社によれば、「機動戦士ガンダム　逆襲のシャア」のBDは、旧作にもかかわらず、既に1万3000枚以上を出荷。さらに出荷枚数は増える見込みという。また、3月に発売した「.hack // G.U. TRILOGY」は、BDとDVDを同時に発売し、BDは1万枚以上を販売した。「BDの普及ペースがかなり早まっているように感じています」（同社）

1万枚というのが多いのか？と思うかもしれませんが、ヒットするゲームや大作映画のDVDとは比べ物にはなりませんが、アニメのシリーズものDVDの売り上げが基本的に初動・数千枚単位という事から、再生機シェアがDVDより依然劣るBDでここまで売れるのでは十分な本数と見てよいでしょう。むしろBlu-rayが本格的に市場動き始めてからまだそれほど経っていない今の時期でこのような売り上げであるならこの先十分にDVD需要を超えることも予想できます。

上の記事でも書かれていますが、基本的にアニメファンは求めるものも多く、画質においてもそれに漏れないわけで、地上デジタル放送で見るハイビジョン映像の後にDVDの画質では満足できない人が多いものです。それにディスクメディアで購入するような人であれば、最初から高画質・高クオリティであるものにお金を出すのは当然の事。
また洋画などに比べアニメは繰り返し見るような層、コレクションしたい層というのが多いのもあると思います。

そうした事からこのような売り上げの結果を見て各アニメ作品のBD化が進んでくれるとまたアニメファンは喜べますが･･･。現在は事実上バンダイビジュアルの独壇場。毎月のように出してくれるメーカーはまだまだありません。
BD化が期待されている『ヱヴァンゲリヲン新劇場版:序』や『劇場版 空の境界』もDVDではかなり好調な売れ行きとなっているようですが、BD化の様子はありません。まだメーカーとしてもDVDで取れる分は取っておきたいでしょうし、続編として続くこれらの作品ではなかなか難しいものもあるのかもしれませんが。

と言っても徐々にですが、BDレコも売れ、PS3というBlu-ray再生可能のゲーム機の存在、大型高解像度TVといったものがBlu-rayをスタンダードメディアにしていくと思います。
既に自分の中で言えばなってますけどね(　ﾟдﾟ)

バンダイビジュアルは.hackに続き、『マクロスF』をTVシリーズ初のDVD/BDを同時発売しますが、その売り上げ比率もまた今後のBD展開には重要なものとなってきそうです。
