SCEJブース・IDチェックコーナー（R-18）にてプレイアブル出展されている全世界注目の傑作アクション「God of War III」。これが個人的に「アンチャーテッド2」と並ぶ本命タイトルということで、IDチェックコーナーで一番人気の待ち時間も60分と長め（ビジネスデイとしては）でしたが迷うことなく並んで15分のプレイを楽しんできました！

本作はこれまでのシリーズで多くの神々を倒し、いよいよ自らの父にしてオリュンポスの神々の王・ゼウスへの復讐を果たすための最終決戦に突入するシリーズ完結になります。前作からスケールは4倍とも言われ、ビジュアル・グラフィックと共に様々な要素が大きくパワーアップしているのが注目の作品。

試遊台は4台あり、薄暗いIDチェックコーナーに入ると前の人がプレイしているのを並んで見られたんですが、その時点で既に圧倒的。主人公クレイトスが持つ2本の鎖剣ブレイズ・オブ・カオスがド派手にブンブンと振り回され、血が飛び散らせながらバンバン敵をなぎ払う様はまさに「GOW」。この時点でもうワクワクしっぱなし。

今回のTGS体験版はE3 2009でプレイアブルだったものと同じ"太陽神ヘリオスのステージ"で巨大なタイタン族を相手に飛び回っているヘリオスを撃ち落として首をもぎ取りランプ代わりにするというあの衝撃のステージです。テキストは全て日本語化されており、音声の方も日本語吹き替えされていました。ただ確認したのはヘリオスの声だけでクレイトスの声は聴けませんでした。玄田哲章さんのままであることを願います。

本タイトルのひとつの魅力ともいえる過激な残虐表現ですが、基本的な部分は変更されていない印象でした。血は大量に地面に散っていましたし、中ボスの部位破壊による大量出血などCSアタックのダイナミックなカメラワークでそのままに見られました。そして上で述べた"太陽神ヘリオスの首をもぎ取りランプ代わり"するシーンですが、自分はサイクロプスと戦うところで時間切れとなってしまったので確認する事ができませんでした。

プレイした別の人の話によればこのシーンでは若干の調整が入っていて、その直接的な瞬間はクレイトスの顔アップへとカメラが移り見えないようになっているとのことです。ただモザイクなどはなく不自然な描かれ方ではないようです。･････という感じで、E3出展されていたものと同じステージながら既に日本版のための調整が進んだバージョンになっています。この辺りはさすがWWS（ワールドワイドスタジオ）タイトル、迅速なローカライズで海外での発売とズレる心配は無さそうです。

さて、実際にプレイしてみての印象ですが、攻撃時のモーションが非常に滑らかで爽快に敵をなぎ払えるのが実に気持ちよく今作でもその楽しさは変わらず、さらにビジュアルが美しくダイナミックになっている分パワーアップを実感できます。60fpsを基本とした可変フレームとのことですが、体験版での通常のプレイではほぼ60fps出てる印象でした。グラフィックに関してはSPUのパワーを引き出しセッションまで開くStudios Santa Monicaの開発ということだけあって非常に美麗で、細かなオブジェクトから巨大な敵まで忠実に描き込まれていました。敵のものはもちろんクレイトスから飛び散る血もしばらく消えないなど色々とこだわりも見られました。

プレイで印象的だったのはゲーム開始時から前作での装備、"イカロスの翼"等を初めからちゃんと使うことができたという点。既に手に入れた力は今作でも変わらず使えそうです。それらを活かしながら新しい要素をクリアしていくわけですが、ハーピーを弓矢で攻撃し、ブレイズ・オブ・カオスの鎖を絡めて離れた足場へと運ばせるなど既に公開されている動画でも見られたようなアクションも、親切にチュートリアルメッセージが表示され戸惑うことなく実行できる配慮がされていました。難易度もシリーズ初心者やアクションがあまり得意ではない人でも楽しめるものになっていると思います。

15分と短いプレイ時間なので、少し手間取ってしまうと例のヘリオスのところに行く前に時間切れとなってしまうんですが、色んなアクションを試すには十分なステージのためかなり楽しめました。CSアタックのあるボスだけでも、ケンタウロス、キメラ、サイクロプスと3体もいるのでかなり大サービスな内容だと思います。発売まではまだしばらくあるのでこれからどんどんブラッシュアップされていくでしょうし、期待は増すばかり。日本ではあまり知名度が高い作品ではありませんが、アクションゲームとしては最高峰のシリーズ最新作。今回はカプコンではなくSCEJのローカライズのおかげで海外発売とラグのないプレイも可能になります。その時を楽しみに待ちましょう！
